With lockdown looming, Satori Education stepped in to reimagine and roll out an online training system that would allow educators to access critical learning from anywhere.
Who was the client?
The Alliance of Leading Learning (ALL) provides professional learning for educators with the aim of ensuring life-changing impact on children and young people.
ALL supports educators who are new to teaching, schools requiring support, and exemplary educational leaders of the future.
Until recently, ALL delivered its courses in-person, predominantly supporting schools in Wales, the Midlands, and the North West. Their courses cover three key areas: Initial Teacher Training; School to School Support; and Continued Professional Development (CPD).
What was the brief?
In early March 2020, with the COVID-19 crisis gathering pace and lockdown imminent, ALL approached Satori Education (SE) to accelerate their online training delivery mechanism.
ALL had already begun developing a fledgling online training system back in 2018. This system was designed to deliver courses both in blended format (a mixture of face-to-face and online) and entirely online; the aim being wider market penetration and appealing to international clients.
With lockdown looming, SE was engaged to launch and implement a new online learning system.
What was the solution?
Satori Education was already familiar with ALL’s work, having worked with the ALL team since October 2018. During this time, SE’s lead consultant Joe Basketts helped ALL to set up a learning management system to meet the dual goals of delivering courses in a blended format and through 100% online training.
When discussions on how to fast-track the system’s roll-out in response to the COVID-19 crisis, ALL turned to Joe and the SE team. The new contract included:
- further training for the entire ALL team
- developing an implementation strategy
- converting all course materials into an online format, including video, text, graphics and interactive activities to facilitate learning.
There were plenty of challenges to the project. New COVID-19 guidelines meant that face-to-face sessions needed to be conducted while adhering to strict social distancing measures. Presenters now had to wear masks, which posed a challenge when they were being filmed. The SE team overcame these challenges and thankfully, the online training system is now in regular use.
SE continues to work with ALL and holds overall responsibility for the learning management system. This includes converting all course content to an online format in a manner that ensures effective, engaging and meaningful learning experiences.
Joe and the team supported ALL in choosing a technical partner to support the system. Since then, SE has provided ongoing strategic consultancy to support ALL leadership in making high-level decisions, including shaping the overall vision for the service.
The comprehensive support package also covers VLE management, website development and support, a Helpdesk service for ALL personnel, and a Helpdesk service for end-users.
What was the feedback?
We simply could not have sustained our reputation for exemplary leadership training for the Department of Education without Joe and his team.
These have been challenging times and the professional guidance and ability to adapt to our changing demands has proved beyond doubt the confidence to trust Joe and his expertise.
As we move forward, Satori Education will continue to be a major part of our development.”
