The short answer is yes it is real, and research has shown that many professionals, parents and carers do not understand the Dark Web and feel unequipped to talk to a young person about it should the need arise.The Dark Web Explained is a resource which has been created by the National Crime Agency (NCA) in collaboration with The Children’s Society and Marie Collins Foundation
It explains what the Dark Web is, helps you understand why and how some young people might access it, and enables you to feel more confident having conversations and supporting children if you know they are accessing it.
